Ivey's Newest Project is a Duo of Songs that Occupy Opposite Sides of a Coin

by Eric Teel, Jefferson Public Radio

Erin Ivey is known (in a city full of songwriters) for her beautifully crafted songs, and for a vocal delivery that draws you close with it's soft intimacy.

In this new project, Ivey's two songs are a veritable yin/yang.  In the first, called Sins of our Fathers, a haunting, ethereal soundscape sets the scene, followed by a simple guitar figure that belies the difficult topic to be revealed. I'd imagine there have been many a tear shed over this story's telling.

On the flip side is Do Our Best, a fun tune that could have easily been pulled from the soundtrack of a children's TV show - complete with kids chorus, toy piano, group singing, and the kind of super positive lyrics that scream primary colors!

Both of these songs are hard to classify. But therein lies the beauty of Ivey's approach.
